The summer is almost over, kids are returning to school and autumn is quickly approaching. Pretty soon the days will be shorter, so now is perfect time to prepare for the cold winter months ahead.
Below is a list of suggestions to help you get started.
- Have a tune up – Make sure your HVAC system is working correctly. Have a heating professional come to your home to inspect and tune up your heating system.
- Clean your gutters – Clean and inspect your gutters and downspouts several times during the fall. Make sure they are clear of debris and clogs. This will help prevent damage to your home’s foundation.
- Clearing the way – Rake leaves, put away furniture and remove hoses. Shut off the water valve from the inside to prevent pipe damage. If you have a chimney have it cleaned and inspected.
- Check it out – Check your generators, snow blowers and other equipment to ensure they’re in proper working order. Remove old fuel from lawn equipment to prevent the lines from clogging.
- Plant it – Due to its cooler weather and moist soil, the fall is an excellent time to plant bulbs, trees and shrubs. It is also the time to move houseplants back indoors. Do this BEFORE the temperatures drop below 55 Degrees.
