The days are shorter, there is a chill in the air and soon Thanksgiving will be here so now is perfect time to prepare for the cold winter months ahead.
Here’s our top 5 to do list items for Fall.
- Tune up your HVAC – Have a heating professional come to your home to inspect and tune up your heating system. Don’t forget to change your filters.
- Clear your gutters and downspouts – Clean and inspect your gutters and downspouts several times during the fall to ensure they are clear of debris and clogs. This will help prevent damage to your home’s foundation or roofing.
- Clean up – Rake leaves, put away furniture and remove hoses. Shut off the water valve from the inside to prevent pipe damage. If you have a chimney have it cleaned and inspected.
- Have a check up – Check your generators, snow blowers and other equipment to ensure they’re in proper working order. Remove old fuel from lawn equipment to prevent the lines from clogging.
- Seal Air Leaks – Get a tube of exterior caulk and sealing up cracks between trim and siding, around window and door frames, and where pipes and wires enter your house. You will prevent moisture from getting in and you will also save on heating costs.
